Does The Church Trust God or Not?

Does The Church Trust God or Not?

There’s a difference between peace time faith, and wartime faith.

Closing the doors of the church during this time of world crisis (spiritual wartime), sends the wrong message about God! The government hasn’t shut down grocery stores, people have to eat. Churches shouldn’t close either for the same reason (spiritual food).  I’m NOT attacking the church leaders here, but I am aggressively going to confront the current mindset of the church across the world. It seems as though the church is in full retreat, when right now it should be aggressively on the attack!

It is written,

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

I introduce these two questions. Can we not TRUST God to protect us as pastors teaching the word? Can we not TRUST God to protect those coming to hear the word, the very people seeking him out in time of need? If He didn’t protect us as believers coming to hear His word, then He would be divided against Himself. It’s NOT the church’s responsibility to protect it’s people, that’s God’s job! We as the leaders of the church are to merely point people to Him.

It is written,

“Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.”

1 Chronicles 28:20

I understand the worldly reasoning, the fear/panic, and the immense pressure from the city governments to close the church. Churches have used this as their main justification for the shut down. However, this decision has been made without a true understanding of the power of ALMIGHTY God.

It is written,

There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. Psalm 91:10

Churches are attempting to justify the shut down, by saying they must obey the laws of the land. We are to obey the laws of the land, up until the point that it violates God’s word. If the laws of the land interfere with people coming to God, then we are to be unwavering and stand firm in our beliefs. There’s nothing wrong with steaming services, that should be done always for those who can’t make it. However, the doors of the church should never ever close during times of crisis. It’s like a military general sending his troops into a fierce bloody battle, while he sits safely behind a computer screen telling his troops to charge and be brave. True leaders lead from the front, they aren’t scared of the world calling them crazy, and they never bow to peer pressure when it comes down to faith.

It is written,

But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. Acts 5:29

God tends to send the truly desperate to me for prayer. These consisting of people with stage 4 cancer, people who have had severe strokes, heart attacks, paralyzed, and people that the doctors have totally given up on. They ask me to pray for them, as they struggle with holding on for their dear lives. Each and every time, I tell them TRUST God, and that He won’t forsake them! What kind of message would it send to them, if I was to fear and go into a state of panic the first time flu season comes around? I’d lose all credibility with them as a believer, and they would never listen to me tell them about God again. I’ve said it many times, We don’t go to church, We are the church! We as leaders of the church have to walk out faith, and display to the world, what we have been preaching during peacetime all these years, is actually REAL!

I am not discouraged, I am not rattled, nor am I scared to be one of the only spies who does not see himself and God’s people as mere grasshoppers. The other ten spies of the modern day church leadership may waver, but I shall be like Joshua and Caleb and believe in the power of God. Unwavering faith is the only way into God’s promised land, and the true believers shall not be denied!

I leave you with this final question:

Would God ever punish us for having too much faith in him?

It is written,

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6
